U16 Match Updates

The first game of the 2005 was a chance to get rid of the excess holiday left over turkey! Kingston were our host and seemed up for the match.

The previous fixture saw a total of 170 points being scored in the game. We had 121 of them. Kingston tried to stem the flow this time round by sagging into a zone on defense. The first quarter started off well and LU began to pull clear which enabled the bench to get an early run. The wildcats hustled for everything and began to claw there way back into the game by the end of the first half. After conceading so many points at the half LU came out more determined on defense with some outstanding play from Zouber Abdi with the shot of the game and Michael Opio returning to form which is more than pleasing to see.

Gary Miles played well especially on defense and the ever improving David Wolosyzn made some well timed interceptions and took yet another charge!
Jouvan Johnson had a quiet game by his standards but our depth in the squad is good as the points were shared amongst the team.

Most encouraging of all were the comments from the referees who both said that we had a very good well coached squad of talented players. Similar comments were also given at our previous match against Southampton by different referees.

Bragging rights went back to Bobby Nnachetta who scored off the fastbreak and slashed through the zone at will. We had a returning contestant on the scorers chart who hadn't been there for a while.

Final score Kingston 53 LUSH 109

Top Scorers: Nnachetta 31, Opio 21, Johnson 20

Our next match is home to NW Middx JAZ on Sunday 23rd January 11 a.m. tip off at Brunel University.
